I'm not a Republican. Nor do I play one on TV. But watching the mounting fraticide among Republicans in the continuing Mark Foley-email-House pages-instant messaging scandal almost makes me want to throw in the white towel on behalf of God's Own Party. Besides, count me suspicious when conservative outlets and spokesmen start talking about the need to purify the party by cleaning house. As bad as the status quo is, any Republican makeover is certainly to be worse than its predecessor.
